MTV Video Music Awards 2020: Os Nomeados

A indústria da música começa a reerguer-se aos poucos, depois de severamente afectada pela pandemia, e um dos primeiros sinais de retoma será mesmo a realização dos VMAs 2020 em Agosto, a primeira cerimónia de prémios internacionais a acontecer fisicamente no pós-Covid.

A lista de nomeados da 37ª edição dos prémios MTV é encabeçada pela dupla Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande, que obtêm 9 nomeações cada, entre o seu trabalho a solo e pela sua colaboração em "Rain on Me". Billie Eilish e The Weeknd seguem logo atrás com 6 menções, com Taylor Swift (5) a encerrar o pódio. Drake (4), Justin Bieber (4), DaBaby (4), Future (4), Megan Thee Stallion (3), Post Malone (3), BTS (3), Doja Cat (3) ou Roddy Ricch (3) angariam também nomeações. Ausentes das categorias principais encontram-se Dua Lipa (4) e Harry Styles (3), a concorrer apenas nas técnicas.

Entre as principais novidades contam-se a criação de duas categorias inspiradas pela pandemia - Best Music Video from Home e Best Quarantine Performance - bem como o regresso da categoria Best Alternative, ausente da cerimónia desde 1998.
